Get your licence

Here at SERG we offer guidance and/or training for all levels of Licence. We aim to be flexible, and will work one on one, or in groups, as required.

Contact: Please register your interest by contacting Tim Hann via email at vk5av@bigpond.com in the first instance.

It is recommended that students have a copy of The Foundation Manual “Your Entry into Amateur Radio”, available from our club or direct from the WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia).

Recent changes by the ACMA means that exam costs are now free. There is a 3 month wait for a re-sit if you are unsuccessful. Once you have passed the required exams, you apply for an ACMA Recognition Certificate, and a callsign. There are once off costs associated with this. That’s it! Because the amateur service now operates under a class licence, there are no annual fees for licence renewal. It really is a licence for life.
At SERG we are able to conduct all levels of examination at our clubrooms in Mount Gambier.

Here is an excellent video by Hayden VK7HH talking about the process to get your Foundation Licence
