Thanks to Ross of Strictly Ham we are thrilled to have some special prizes for the Main raffle. $2 Tickets will be sold at the entrance, during the day and at the dinner before being drawn at the conclusion of the evening.
First prize winner will have a choice from all the prizes (we reckon they’ll choose the FT3-DR) and the second prize winner will choose from the remaining prizes (we reckon they’ll choose the FT60). These prizes will be awarded irrespective of whether the winners are present or not. We will forward names to Ross who will send out the winning prizes.
After first and second prizes are won the next winners will choose from the remaining prizes and must be present at the dinner to collect.
The door prize of a Boefing radio is a free raffle when paying entry fee of $5.
Convention details
As in the past the convention will be held in and around the Mount Gambier Scout headquarters (5 Margaret St, Mount Gambier) on the SA Queen’s Birthday long weekend – June 11 and 12, 2022.
The convention this year will be in two parts:
1) the Australian Foxhunting Championship held over Saturday and Sunday as usual.
2) activities will be in the Scout hall on Sunday only when we’ll have food at lunch, the Home Brew competition, door prize, trading tables, presentations, talks prior to the evening meal and then the usual sumptuous evening meal, raffle and social fun.
Joe and Julie from SARCnet.org will be helping young people with the construction of a simple electronics project over 45 minutes. There will be a minimum of 2 sessions at 11:00AM and 1PM depending on bookings. If the booking are sufficient we’ll add at least a 2PM session.
We’re hoping the Home Brew Competition will be a good one as there have been three years since the last and an opportunity for a lot of projects built in the interim. We’re currently working on the prizes for that, the door prize and the raffle.
We are inviting people of pre-loved and new equipment for our hobby to book a table(s) by sending a request to sergconvention@gmail.com
All prices will remain the same as the last convention in 2019.
Some things we know:
We’ve decided to hold the Foxhunts as usual over the two days – see program below but the hall will be open only on Sunday 12/6/22. We will concentrate our hall efforts to that day much the same as other club conventions. If Andrew requires a briefing session for foxhunters then where and when will be advised via this page.
Sunday hall program: Traders (setup at 8:30AM), hall open for general public from 9:30AM, Lunchtime catering (10AM to 2PM), home brew competition, presentations, talks and evening meal. Close when dinner completed.
Bookings for dinners and tables will be via the sergconvention@gmail.com address and direct deposit to the club bank account. Tim VK5AV will reply to emails to provide club bank details. In the event of illness or other significant problem preventing attendance, money will be refunded. Dinner bookings will be required by Monday, 3/6/22 to help with catering.
Club members are reminded to book their dinners ($25 per head) well in advance to help Sandy with the catering.
