Become a Radio Amateur

Under construction – on these pages we will have information on what Amateur Radio offers to licensees, equipment that may be needed, experimenting with radio, local clubs, making new friends and so on.

What makes Amateur Radio different from CB Radio? Many things – higher power, more frequencies, more experimenting, different ways to communicate, a great club etc etc.

What are the opportunities Amateur Radio opens up? Some of our members talk through satellites, track balloons, and even bounce radio signals off the moon. We experiment with antennas, some of us enjoy building equipment but all of us enjoy making new friends and having conversations over the air to near and distant places. In the pages below (click on the down arrow) we’ll tell you how to contact us, how to get some training and how to obtain a licence.
